It finally happened! The new Bham Dental Hospital

queen

I remember back as a dental student many years ago (12 years ago to be exact!), there was a lot of talk of the dental hospital in Birmingham being moved. The idea was to bring the hospital closer to the Birmingham University campus, as well as taking opportunity to modernise the facilties and the service.

We never actually believed it would happen…the logistics of pulling it off are immense. But we have been proved wrong! The hospital has finally moved!

The old BBC Pebble MIll site was demolished to make room for the new dental hospital. You can read more about the project here:

And it was wonderful too see our Queen do the official opening for the hospital a few days ago and to see the new modern facilities first hand. This was part of her stop in Birmingham to open the revamped New Street train station too.

The next generation of dental students are very privileged to working in a fabulous hospital with some of the best teaching staff in our profession. Very lucky indeed!
